He willsucceed Mark Frost, who will be joining the Sports Council forWales at the end of February.Holmes, 46, played 398 matches for Glamorgan between 1978 and 1991, andonce took 5 for 2 in a one-day match against Derbyshire at Ebbw Valewith his medium-pace. Since retiring, he has worked for abuilding society in South Wales, and has coached young cricketers forhis local club in Cardiff.”We are delighted to welcome someone of Geoff’s calibre and experienceto the CBW,” said Hugh Davies, their chairman. “We are indebted to Mark forthe considerable work he has done in taking the development of juniorand other cricket in Wales forward over the past five and a half years.”
