According to Italian football journalist Nicolo Schira, Wolverhampton Wanderers will respond to Fiorentina’s bid for striker Patrick Cutrone on Wednesday.
What’s the word?
It is believed that the Serie A outfit have offered a loan move with an option to buy in the summer, the two combining for €18m (£15.3m), which is just shy of the £16m Wolves paid for him in the summer from AC Milan.
The saga involving Cutrone and a January exit has rumbled on for quite some time with it looking to come to a head later this week.
Fiorentina have reportedly offered the 21-year-old a four-year contract should his temporary switch be made permanent.
Although, this entire situation hardly bodes well for any future transfer targets that Wolves may want to bring in this month.
Foul treatment?
Nuno Santo’s treatment of the Italian forward has been nothing short of awful as he’s hardly been given a fair crack of the whip at Molineux this campaign.
The numbers will read 24 appearances with exactly half coming in the Premier League. But Cutrone only started nine of those, averaging a total of just 35 minutes per game, and during the lack of game time, he still managed to net three times, per Transfermarkt.
Wolves first-choice striker Raul Jimenez has barely been rested this campaign, playing 33 times in all competitions but for a fair chunk of those matches, the Portuguese chief could have easily afforded to rest him.
This weekend’s tie with Manchester United in the FA Cup was the perfect opportunity for Cutrone to get another shot, yet he was entirely omitted with youngster Benny Ashley-Seal being handed the starting reigns on debut.
The club are reportedly in for RB Salzburg forward Hwang Hee-Chan, who could be a replacement, but is there any point knowing that opportunity is going to be hard to come by under Nuno, who so clearly trusts Jimenez as his main man.

Cutrone must’ve questioned his place amongst the side as his manager revealed the two spoke before his omission, and with this article referencing Nuno’s Alex Ferguson-like traits, it clearly didn’t go down well.
This situation must surely be off-putting for any striker the club are chasing during this transfer window.
Meanwhile,ÂWolves must focus their sights on this key area this month of they could suffer as a result…
